  1. Trying not to cry and failing miserably. I got my dog on christmas eve 6 years ago. Today is her gotcha day. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  2. it’s sad that people always get puppies or kittens in these sort of videos, what about adult cats and dogs wating to be adobted? I was shocked to find out in my country that if the cat is over two years old (sounds ridicilous when cats can live close to twenty years!), it’s chances of getting adopted drop drastically. It can still get a home but it’s wait will be way longer and not all get a home in the end ๐Ÿ™

    1. Yes very sad. I used to volunteer for local animal rescue groups and saw many wonderful older dogs & cats waiting and even die in shelters. Heartbreaking.
Always encourage people to adopt older pets.

    2. you are right, but not all of the animals in this video were kittens or puppies. take a moment to enjoy the purpose of this video and take a step back from a defensive righteousness. happy holidays.

    3. I agree with this to an extent. The people in this video probably should adopt but for a lot of people they want working animals. Every dog I buy is a puppy, we always have three dogs at a time so that the elders can teach the pup. If I did not need guard dogs I would gladly adopt, to see animals have their lives taken due to no one wanting them is horrible.

    4. Many of these animals were given to kids. Getting a kid a puppy or kitten means that kid gets to grow up with that animal. If you get a child an adult animal then a child will have to deal with the loss of it at a much younger age. I was 7 when I got my dog and he was a puppy. He’s 13 years old now and he’s been my best friend growing up. He was just diagnosed with cancer, basically how every dog his breed goes, and luckily I’m old enough to be able to handle his loss when it comes. If I had to deal with that when I was a kid or a teen, it would’ve been much worse. Of course I’ve lost other pets over the years but my dog is my best friend and he and I have always been close. You shouldn’t put a child in a situation where they could lose their best friend in the next 5 years. Now that I’m an adult I will only adopt adult animals from shelters, but a kid needs a companion to grow up with.

    1. barneythefrenchiebulldog I got my dog for Christmas as a present 3 years ago. He is still with us, he is a part of our family. And I love him very much. There is nothing wrong with a pet for Christmas as long as you treat it right.

    2. I got my dog for a birthday present. 13 years later he’s still my best friend in the whole world. He was a present and he is for life. Stop trying to ruin the joy these people and animals got on Christmas.

    1. fresky74 YeahBut with abandoned animals they might not be ok with children and/or other animals or have problems that would mean a lot more work which makes it hard.

    2. There’s no way you could know that these people didn’t adopt from shelters. Rescuing an abandoned animal can be very dangerous for the children in the home. The same can happen with a shelter animal, but at least you have the screening procedure beforehand to try to narrow it down.

  3. Pets are a lifetime commitment & a huge responsibility. Many end up at shelters & die there. If the person has done his/her research, has shown responsibility, & is ready for a 10-15 yr commitment, then a pet is awesome. SAVE a LIFE by ADOPTING from your local shelter or rescue organizations.

    1. Autumn Rain I couldn’t agree more. The spoiled kids next door to me got a tuxedo kitten for Christmas last year & when they were no longer interested they put her outside to die. Oh, but not before abusing her, by cutting off part of her ear (and who knows what else). We discovered her outside & gave her a home. One of the best things I’ve ever done ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿ˜

    2. I agree also. Those folks in the video wanted those pets and donโ€™t feel theyโ€™ll end up in a shelter. I volunteer with a Chihuahua Rescue here in NC and seeing that little guy hugging and crying over that Chi really got me! That Chi looked like an adult also which made my heart smile ๐Ÿ˜Šโค๏ธ. There were a couple adult dogs in this so it means to me people are coming around. Rescues are the best!

    3. Cindy WH-Witter yep all mine are older rescues or strays. Haven’t had abought puppyin 23 years. Got educated and been rescuers ever since.

    4. My poor pup has been in and out of shelters his whole life. He looked the most depressed so I decided to adopt him to get him out of there. He’s a handful, but I don’t get how so many people before us gave up on him. There are tons of dogs like him out there and it’s heartbreaking. I wish I could have a ranch of rescue animals ๐Ÿ™

    5. Jillian Jall 3 of my dogs are rescues, wouldnโ€™t have it any other way ๐Ÿ˜Š. The Chihuahua Rescue I volunteer with, Iโ€™m always drawn to the elderly and so called โ€˜brokenโ€™ fur babyโ€™s people just discarded. That makes me so angry. My Ben is blind and the joy of my life! He has no idea what disabled means….he had the layout of the house down in 4 days flat! He was rescued with 41 other dogs from a hoarder. I wish everyone would realize rescues are truly the best.

  4. So this Christmas I’ve been getting gifts daily all of them are bird supplies until I found out that my sister is gonna get me a budgie on the 30th day! I’m so exited! (I always wanted a budgie and I’ve been doing researches the whole past 3 month and already have most of the supplies I’m so exited! :D) I hope everyone gets his dream gift in Christmas (I already have a cat and a dog I got my puppy in Xmas 2013 and my cat 2015 they all have the same gotcha day as my new budgie and all of them are rescued but the bird is adopted)
